How do I become APA Approved?

Choose your business type from the menu on the left and contact the proper person to begin the process. You will be given a quick initial review and if acceptable, you will be sent an application.

APA Approved Businesses and Products use the APA Approved Logo at their businesses, on their packaging and in their advertisements. We do not currently publish a master list as it violates our Privacy Policy, but expect to have one by 2012.

Will the APA Approve anyone?

Definitely not. However do not confuse us with elitist groups looking to endorse only the rich, successful post businesses. We are happy to approve any business that maintains APA Standards and will provide honest, humane quality service to pet owners.

We server all of the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. We do approve products that are humanely manufactured anywhere in the world for distribution in the US.

Who runs the APA?

The American Pet Association / American Companion Animal Association is an independent organization with no corporate affiliations. We are self funded, self managed and all of our policies are made by our board of directors and Executive Director.
